Dr. Jose Iniguez
SIATech Charter School District
The SIATech Board of Directors unanimously appointed Dr. Jose F. Iniguez as Superintendent/CEO. He brings more than 27 years of public education experience, with leadership spanning preschool through the university level.
Dr. Iniguez began his career as an instructional aide and classroom teacher, then served in multiple leadership roles, including Chair of the California Instructional Quality Commission (IQC), Executive Coach with the National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST), Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, and Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Leadership.
Dr. Iniguez’s professional accomplishments include a Governor’s appointment to the California IQC, where he led the development of California curriculum frameworks and the state's initial adoption of instructional materials aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. He has transformed comprehensive high schools into small learning communities across multiple districts, strengthening student engagement and academic achievement. He has also planned and implemented general obligation bond programs that supported major school facility improvements.
Dr. Iniguez earned his law degree from the UCLA School of Law before returning to public education—completing UCLA's Teacher Education Program and later earning his doctorate. He also earned a Chief Business Officer Certificate (CASBO) and the Human Resources Personnel Certificate (ACSA). At the university level, he developed and led a five-course leadership certificate program at NCUST focused on strengthening K–12 leaders' capacity to improve student achievement.
SIATech’s mission is deeply personal to Dr. Iniguez. He understands firsthand how circumstances outside the classroom can affect a student’s educational journey. Those experiences continue to shape his belief in every student's potential and his leadership philosophy—he believes human relationships are at the heart of meaningful and lasting change.
Dr. Iniguez resides in North County San Diego with his family. As Superintendent/CEO, Dr. Iniguez is committed to expanding opportunities for SIATech students, strengthening the organization and the people who make its work possible, and ensuring that every student has a meaningful pathway to graduation and a successful future.
