SIATech High School leaders hosted two free virtual information sessions on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

These well-attended sessions were an opportunity for Job Corps students who were displaced due to the "Job Corps pause" to learn more about how they can continue their coursework and progress toward a high school diploma.

Speakers Included:

  • Stacey Wilkins, Interim Superintendent and CEO of SIATech Schools
  • Jake Gordon, Executive Director of Schools, SIATech Schools
  • Nicole Taylor, Executive Director Student Support Services, SIATech Schools
  • Maricella Evangelista, Wellness Coordinator, SIATech Schools
  • Karl Aragundi, Director of Career Technical Education, SIATech Schools
  • Linda Leigh, Chief Communications Officer, SIATech Schools

The presentation introduced SIATech’s independent study high school program and our eight locations. We explained how students can transfer the credits earned while attending SIATech at Job Corps into one of SIATech’s independent study locations to continue their education. The team explained how our classes, mentor teachers, and other supports can help students earn their diploma! There was also an end of the presentation to ask questions.

In light of the temporary restraining order granted by a judge late in the day on June 4, 2025 that temporarily has stopped the pause, the evening session recording is shared here. If you are interested in receiving the recording from the morning session, please email info@siatech.org to request it be shared with you. You can view the slides here.

The evening session included information especially for students in the Los Angeles area. The presentations by the City of Los Angeles Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD) shared additional support and resources for youth 14 to 24 years old. More information especially for SIATech Job Corps students can be requested here. The final presenter directed students to go to the Hire LA Youth website for jobs and other helpful resources.
